It's Friday night in Helsingborg. The whole town is bustling with life. People are going out to go clubbing. One has been dumped. Another has been kissed for the first time. And Donken, aka McDonalds, is... emptier than usual.

This is the prelude to "Hbg girls" which depicts a few completely ordinary Friday hours in the lives of six completely ordinary young people. The play is based on screenwriter EliSophie Andrée's interviews and conversations with about 30 young girls whom she has made contact with through the Facebook group "HBG Tjejer". Anonymously but openly, they reveal their innermost secrets. We meet Mona (20), Alice (25), Rosa (15), Inez (17), Leila (24) and Sabina (18) whose lives are intertwined in different ways. This Friday evening, like all other Friday evenings, their paths cross at McDonalds at Knutpunkten and the evening is soon filled with the scent of sweet vanilla milkshakes, old rivals you would rather forget and unfulfilled dreams.

“Hbg girls” reflects the reality of many young people in a Helsingborg beyond the well-polished million-dollar facades of the coastline, where all life revolves around friendship, love, sex, betrayal and lies. Maybe you can recognize yourself? Or one of your friends?
